IMVU SCAM WARNING - MARCH 2017 - BE WARNED, HACKERS WANT YOUR AVI!

Its 2017 and yet agin hackers are making the rounds and trying to steal avis from unsuspecting people. One of the most common ways is to get people to click on a link. The link usually leads to some 3rd party website where they will steal the info needed to hack your avi.

I received this message a few days ago:

Your Account has been limited ! Dear Customer : We Are Sorry To inform You That But Your Account Has Been Limited, please resolve your account before we hold 30000 days! finish your account on the site : http://imvusupport.com

This is the profile of the avi that sent me this message:

Block this person and treat with extreme prejudice. They are malicious and will do anything to get our hard earned avi and items! And to re-iterate this is what a proper IMVU staff account looks like:

  1. I received a similiar message: "Your account has been Limited !Dear Customer. We Are Sorry To inform You That But Your Account Has Been Limited, please resolve your account before we hold 30000 days! finish your account on the site : http://imvu.online"

The message I received was from a user calling herself mvuLIMITED from the uk she had pre-2010 IMVU logo on her profile picture and did NOT have a staff tag on her profile card. She also sent me a friend request right before sending the message. She has been reported to actual IMVU Staff... actual IMVU staff assured me that ANY messages about an account being limited ARE SCAMS and that you should always flag the message and the user immediately.... and NEVER click on or go to the websites those messages tell you to go to.

  2. You should be aware that there is tons of scammers on IMVU. They will try anything, like telling you that if you want a good avi you should come (click) or paste this adress line into your imvu address line (which will do the exact same thing as clicking) and bring you to a site that will seem totally legit and ask your account name and password to go to next 'step' as any ledgit IMVU store will do. Honestly, it has became so difficult to know if it is a scam or a ledgit store, that i advice anyone to stay away from IMVU at ALL. I lost all my account and was not able to get it back, as staff treat your claim 'automatically' which is the equal to NOT AT ALL. And you will find that your ip is flag for the next 15 years... ridiculous.
Don't bother with IMVU. Get your 'second life' somewhere else, like Red light center, Second life, whatever...but IMVU.
